The Real Issue - GM Truck Blower Motor Circuit
So, the blower motor in your truck is not working properly. Here is why! General
Motors, in about 1.2 Million vehicles from 2001 thru 2007 under-designed the
size of the wiring in the High Blower Circuit. The result, the wiring where it
meets the connector terminals gets very hot. It burnishes the terminal which
makes it lose connection and the High Blower or other speeds stops working. Usually it
also melts the connector as seen here.
But replacing the connector alone is not the complete fix. The overheating
problem spreads into the Blower Resistor as it burnishes the terminals in the
Blower Resistor also. If you don't replace the Blower Resistor as well,
chances are you will be under the dash to repair this problem again in the
future!
MCR offers this complete kit so you can "Do it Right the First Time" The
Kit Contains: A New Blower Resistor, A Replacement resistor connector with
upgraded wiring to prevent the issue from happening again and high quality Molex
shrink butt connectors so your repair makes a high quality connection and is
sealed against the elements.
